2007 Toronto Municipal Budget
This document serves as a "Backgrounder" to the deputation made by the Toronto Board of Trade to city council's Budget Advisory Committee on March 29, 2007. The purpose of this document is to present the full rationale and basis for the recommendations to council that were made public through the delegation process.
This year and this term of Council, from the Board's perspective, may prove to be the most pivotal in Toronto's brief history since amalgation. The Board's approach is somewhat different than previous years as its focus and recommendations center on what we believe are the fundamental fiscal policy directions, actions and priorities the city must put in place to achieve the objective of a sustainable city as ariticulated in the "Toronto 2010: Mayor David Miller's Vision for a Great City" document.
