Toronto Board of Trade Ambassador Program

The Ambassadors welcome you to the Board of Trade!

Remember your first day in a new job? You probably arrived feeling a bit nervous, not sure exactly where you were supposed to go or what you were supposed to do. You didn’t know where the elevators were, how to get supplies, or whether you needed to dial “9” for an outside line.

Ideally, your new employer would have arranged for someone to help you during those first few days. Someone who already knew the ropes – how the day was structured, where the cafeteria was, and who the key players were. Someone who could help you get started, who was glad to help and happy to answer your questions.

At the Board, that someone is an Ambassador.

As one of the largest chambers of commerce in North America, the Toronto Board of Trade has three locations and a myriad of products, services, events, activities and offerings for members. There are opportunities to make new friends, develop skills, learn new things, and grow – providing you know where to find them, what they are, and which ones will most help get you where you want to go.

Who We Are

The Board of Trade Ambassadors are a group of established members who have volunteered to be a resource for new members. Just like that helpful person during those first few days at your new job, a Board of Trade Ambassador will be there to show you around our facilities, introduce you to people you’d like to meet, help you find the things you need and answer your questions.

It’s a personal welcome to the Board of Trade, from your personal guide – a Board of Trade Ambassador!  Meet the Ambassadors

photo of BOT AmbassadorsThe Board of Trade offers over 100 events per year, to allow members to learn, interact, and meet new business prospects.  You are able to purchase a table for a group of 10, or a single seat.

Don't worry...lots of people attend our networking luncheons or seminars by themselves!

Different types of events appeal to different business needs, and we have structured our events into families, that in most cases, are offered through the year. Click here to view our upcoming events.

4. I'm nervous about attending an event by myself. I hate small talk and I'd rather go to work naked than walk into a room full of people I don't know.

If you want to get more out of your membership but are not comfortable attending seminars and networking events on your own, contact one or two of our Ambassadors and they'll accompany you to your first event. You also can bring a guest with you to an event.

5. Aside from the seminars and networking events, how else can I participate with the Toronto Board of Trade?

Through an effective volunteer working group structure, The Toronto Board lobbies proactively on behalf of its members - debating policy and program directions with government, and assisting in the development of government initiatives. Membership on committees is by invitation, with members selected from qualifying membership classes based on the individual's qualifications and experience. Membership on a committee is limited to no more than one representative from any one company, to ensure a wide representation of input and views.

If you are interested in volunteering for one of these committees, please contact   www.bot.com/volunteer.

Testimonial

Since joining last November I've attended a networking lunch downtown, a business card exchange at the airport location, and the annual dinner. On each of these occasions I've been fortunate enough to make potential business contacts and meet a variety of interesting people with diverse backgrounds.  I'm a firm believer that face to face networking is the best way to develop business prospects and the BOT gives it's members a wide range of networking opportunities ... and the food is always great.  I'd welcome the opportunity to be a table facilitator at luncheon networking functions and also continue to be an advocate of the BOT's services. Best regards, Greg.
