The Toronto Board of Trade's Community Action Program exists to:
- Create opportunities for developing executives and professionals to build leadership skills through community engagement;
- Complete projects of lasting community importance;
- Facilitate a process for participants to better understand the way their city works and the impact that volunteers can have.
This will be accomplished by encouraging and training young professionals to obtain leadership skills while understanding the value of volunteerism. The program is open to all members of the Toronto Board of Trade but places an emphasis on providing leadership opportunities for Young Professionals (those under 35). All projects are also chaired exclusively by Young Professionals. If you are not yet a member of the Toronto Board of Trade and would like to join, click here or phone 416 366 6811 to speak to a Membership Services Representative.
Presently there are two ongoing projects which are available for consideration. Each requires a group of dedicated volunteers to see the project to a successful conclusion. If you are interested in learning more or would like to volunteer please contact Daniela Corbo or by calling 416-439-4140.
The two projects are as follows:
Meet The Champions
This event is an opportunity for the Toronto Board of Trade to recognize award-winning individuals of the diverse regional and ethnic boards of trade and chambers of commerce throughout the GTA. In addition to celebrating these achievements, this is an excellent opportunity for members to network with both the award-winners as well as members of the GTA business community. Meet the Champions will be held in March and offers volunteers a valuable and distinct opportunity to expand their exposure to the varied business communities within the region.
40th Annual Police Officer of the Year Awards
This annual event is a source of pride for the Toronto Board of Trade. Recognizing the work and dedication that members of the Toronto Police Service provide is both an honour and a privilege. This event requires a team of volunteers dedicated to the task at hand. Once described as "the Oscar's for the Police Service", this is an evening of awards, ceremony and distinction. Volunteers play a role in almost every aspect of the event and will gain some unique experiences. This upcoming year also marks the 50th anniversary since its inception by the Toronto Police Service, providing the perfect opportunity for a dedicated team to make this gala a night to be remembered!
